introduction:

Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) is a revolutionary idea of Government of the Punjab- Pakistan. TEVTA was formed by an Ordinance No XXIV of 1999 promulgated by Governor of the Punjab.

Up till 1986, there was no institute in the Soon Valley which could provide technical & commerce education.  Ultimately, there was a massive gap in the field of education and the students literally had nothing to study after passing matriculation.  Government Institute of Commerce (GIC), Noushehra was established in 1986 under Directorate of Technical Education (Government of the Punjab) to bridge the gap and to provide quality technical & commerce education as well as to work as a channel towards promotion of higher education in the Valley.  GIC is presently working under strong and efficient control of TEVTA.

 Acheivements:

 GIC Noushehra is the pioneer institute of soon valley in the field technical & commerce education and played a very vital and significant role in spreading awareness of higher education in the Soon Valley.   The 511 pass out students of the institute are serving as officers in Pakistan Air Force, Pak Navy, Pak Army, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, TEVTA, PVTC, Banking sector, other private and government organizations and abroad.  GIC Noushehra is also pioneer institute which opened the doors of higher education and consequently the bright future of the students of the Soon Valley.  The ever increasing trend towards commerce education and increasing employability of the pass out students is the evidence of success and prosperity which GIC brought to Soon Valley.  Moreover, GIC is the pioneer institute in running “Spoken English Course” successfully among all TEVTA institutes in 2006.

GIC Noushehra won Gold & Silver medals in PBTE annual exam 2001, getting 1^st & 2^nd position in the whole Punjab.

 Special efforts for promotion of Technical & Commerce Education & Studnets Welfare:

 GIC Noushehra is not only providing quality education but also making efforts towards job placement of its pass out students.  The success of GIC is the major marketing tool which spread awareness of the importance of Technical & Commerce education in the Valley, therefore getting admission in GIC is one of the top most choice of the bright students of the whole Valley.

A computer lab, comprising of 20 latest computers, is working with internet facility available for the students to keep themselves update with the latest knowledge and skills which are being discovered all around the globe.

A library is established at GIC, where wide variety of books on history, religion, literature, commerce and other relevant subjects are available for the students and teachers to enhance their knowledge and update themselves with current research and development on the subjects of their interest.

Book Bank is established at GIC, where subject related text books are collected from pass out students, teachers and other sources.  These books are provided to the deserving students.

Deserving students are financed through Zakat & Fauji Foundation Scholarships, whereas the bright students are awarded with Merit Scholarship.

STAFF:

 Staff of the GIC is well qualified and hardworking with specialization and experience in the fields of Finance & Accounts, Marketing, Commerce, Shorthand, Computer and Islamic Studies.  The attention of the Government is required to fulfill the deficiency in staff as the posts of lecturers (English & Urdu) are vacant at present.  However the current staff is working with diligence and their utmost efforts are covering the deficiency.

 extra curricular & co-curricular activities:    

 Management of the GIC organizes competitions relating to Qiraat, Naat, Debates and Essay writing etc. to polish and shine the hidden talents of the students and to groom their mental capabilities and character.    

GIC also recognizes the vital importance of the sports for physical grooming of the students.  Indoor and outdoor game competitions are held at GIC level and good sportsmen are trained and facilitated to compete in District, Zone and Province level sports competitions.
